Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Donations are gratefully accepted. For events that require reservations, or for questions, please call the NJBG office at (973) 962-9534.

All events begin or take place at the Carriage House Visitor Center unless otherwise specified.

State Park Parking Fee: On summer Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, there is a State Park parking fee of $5 for New Jersey-registered vehicles and $7 for non-New Jersey-registered vehicles. Oversized vehicles (vehicles that occupy more than one normal parking space, including vehicles with trailers, RVs, etc.) are charged double the normal rate. At all other times, parking is free.

Skylands is a carry-in, carry-out State Park facility. Please carry your trash and litter back out with you and dispose of it properly.

Remember, no pets, picnics, alcohol, balls, frisbees, nor lawn games are permitted in the Botanical Garden.

  • June 3 (Saturday), 10 am
    Wildflower Walk. Join Darlene Nowak and Sandy Zenkel in checking out the many delightful flowers and ferns in the shady, wooded Wildflower Garden! Wear sturdy shoes, meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. $5 donation. (State parking fee applies.)
  • June 9 (Friday), 6:30 pm
    Concert: Richard Reiter Swing Band. One of New Jersey's most popular swing combos kicks off summer with familiar standards from the swing era and the best of classic rock. Bring a lawn chair; concert moves to the Carriage House in bad weather. (Visit the Richard Reiter Swing Band website [opens in new window].) $5 donation requested.

  • June 11 (Sunday), 10 am
    Audubon: Bluebird Walk. Join us for a walk in the Garden and fields as we visit the volunteer-installed nest boxes and learn why they are important to the Eastern Bluebird. We will also identify the birds and buterflies seen along the way. Meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. Free. (State parking fee applies.)
    Presented by the Bargen County Audubon Society.
  • June 17 (Saturday), 9 am-1 pm
    Lilac Care Workshop. Come work in the Lilac Garden and get a hands-on lesson in lilac pruning, thinning, dead-heading, and general care from lilac expert Dr. Edith Wallace, formerly chair of the Biology Department at William Paterson University. Lesson at 10 am. Free. (State parking fee applies.)
  • June 18 (Sunday), 1 pm
    Father's Day Family Woodland Hike. An easy, child-friendly hike in the Garden's woodlands, where you'll learn a bit about the plants and animals around you in a hike designed to fit the group. Smaller children may need to be carried. Wear sturdy shoes, meet at the Carriage House Visitor Center. Rain cancels. Free. (State parking fee applies.)
  • June 23 (Friday), 6:30 pm
    Concert: The Kootz. Your favorite Rock 'n' Roll to kick up the summer heat. Bring a lawn chair; concert moves to the Carriage House in bad weather. (Visit the Kootz website [opens in new window].) $5 donation requested.

  • June 30 (Friday), 6:30 pm
    Concert: The Guthrie Brothers. The Simon & Garfunkel and Everly Brothers songbooks, and original harmony-driven music. Bring a lawn chair; concert moves to the Carriage House in bad weather. $5 donation requested.

    Skylands Manor Tours. NJBG volunteer docents lead visitors on a tour of the architecture and history of Skylands Manor. Fee: $7 adults; $5 seniors and students ages 13-18; $3 ages 6-12; free under 6. (State parking fee applies.)
  • July 9 (Sunday), 1 pm
    Audubon: Butterfly Walk. Prime time for butterflies! Join us as we walk the garden and fields to look for and identify the butterflies and plants of the NJBG -- the Garden State's hidden jewel. Meet at the Carriage House. Rain cancels. Free. (State parking fee applies.)
    Presented by the Bergen County Audubon Society.
  • July 16 (Sunday), 1 pm

  • August 18 (Friday), 6:30 pm

All Summer Concerts will be held on Fridays at 6:30 pm on the Concert Lawn. Bring a lawn chair. Indoors in bad weather. $5 donation.


YOUR GARDEN
Come visit often for a constantly-changing display of color and bloom sure to cheer your heart. The Botanical Garden is open every day from 8 am to 8 pm Garden admission is always free. $5 per New Jersey-registered car parking fee on summer weekends and holidays (weekends, Memorial Day to Labor Day), $7 for out-of-state registered cars. Oversized vehicles (including trailers and RVs) pay double. Weekday parking is free.

MANOR TOURS
...are offered on Sunday afternoons, March through November. Knowledgeable docents will introduce you to the architecture and history of beautiful Skylands Manor. Adults: $7; Seniors: $5; Students 13-18: $5; Children 6-12: $3; Under 6: Free. Please check the calendar for exact dates and times.

GIFT SHOP
Sunday afternoons from 12 noon-4 pm, April through December (weather permitting). Great gift ideas, shirts, books, garden supplies, and children's items. Credit cards accepted.

HIKE & BIKE
Always a pleasure on the Garden's many safe and beautiful hiking & biking trails.

FAMILY WOODLAND WALK
Our easy, child-friendly walks one Sunday afternoon each month are a great way to explore nature. Free.

VOLUNTEER IN THE GARDEN
NJBG volunteers help maintain the gardens, give tours, and offer many other public services. To volunteer, inquire at the office or call (973) 962-9534. We'd love to have you!

PLEASE REMEMBER...
